GCR Attorney Receives Unsung Heroes Award for Volunteerism

August 5, 2009 - George Yin, an attorney at GCR, LLP, with offices on the West Coast and Southwest region, has received an award from the Organization for Chinese Americans and General Motors as one of the 2008/2009 Unsung Heroes for his time and dedication to making the OCA-Greater Los Angeles chapter successful.

“Giving back to the community is an area in which George has always been active, including volunteering with OCA and serving on the boards of numerous other nonprofit, civic and community organizations,” said Yuri Calderón, founding and Managing Partner of GCR. “We are proud of his accomplishments and thankful for his dedication to improve the quality of life in California’s diverse communities.”

Yin will be recognized at a presentation ceremony during the OCA Gala Awards Banquet in San Francisco Saturday, Aug. 8. All OCA members, except OCA chapter presidents, executive council members and national staff, are eligible for the prestigious award.

Yin has been an OCA-Greater Los Angeles member for over a decade. He was the driving force behind organizing an artist reception with a renowned painter from China. Yin also organized “Summer Relief,” an event to raise money for relief efforts for the survivors of the Myanmar and China disasters.

Yin is currently a senior associate at GCR, specializing in public, municipal and education law. He began his legal career in 2001, after graduating from UCLA Law School with joint degrees in law and urban planning.
